Masters Gown

The Masters gown is different from other gowns in that its sleeves are oblong and wearers may choose to wear it either closed or opened. It also has long sleeves that are closed at one end with a slit left above the elbow for the arm to pass through. The material of the Masters gown is traditionally black. Occasionally however, some colleges and universities dye their gowns according in their colors. The material at the back of the Masters gown is drawn together into a yoke. The yoke may either be curved, which is more traditional, or it may be square or straight like most modern gowns.
