You can go from dainty and delicate to large and noticeable. It can be dressed up or down and is acceptable for any event or occasion.

We always recommend have some gold plate or gold tone pieces in your wardrobe basics also. 10-14k gold may be a bit too pricey for many but gold plated jewelry is quite affordable and will give you good value for the cost. The length and size of your fingers plays an important role in what will look good. When purchasing necklaces be certain you know your neck size so that you get a good fit. This is very important when purchasing on line as you don’t get a chance to try. If your neck is average in size then a 16″ necklace will look great, however if you have a somewhat larger than average neck then a 16″ necklace could be too tight. Measure the length of some of your favourite necklaces you already own. This will give you a good indication of what length you prefer. Opera necklaces which are over 30″ are terrific. They can be double wrapped, knotted, or whatever else your imagination comes up with. When choosing colored necklaces make sure its a color that compliments your skin tone. It may match your outfit fabulously but if it doesn’t match or compliment your skin tone your look could be lost.

When purchasing bracelets you’ll need to decide where you’re going to wear them, and how noticeable you want them to be. The availability of size and shape is endless - you can go from large bangle bracelets to dainy gem bracelets. If it is a slip on bracelet be sure that it will fit over your hand. Make certain to measure your wrist as the fit of a bracelet is very important. To large and it will look sloppy and may even slide off. Too small can constrict your wrist movement.

When purchasing earrings - the shapes and styles are endless - from dangles to chandeliers to hoops to studs to buttons. From enamel to beads to gems to metal to wood. Size of the earrings is very important to the statement your making. The larger the earring the more noticeable and the more incorporated they become into your total look. Large earrings aren’t for everyone - depending on your face size and shape they may actually detract rather than attract. Experiment and find what looks best on you.

To begin, let’s define “Brand Identity,” which is the combination of consistent visual elements that are used in your marketing materials. A basic Brand Identity Kit consists of a logo, business card, letterhead, and envelope. It can be extended to include a website, brochure, folder, flyer, or any other professionally designed pieces.

Having a Brand Identity is incredibly important to your business’s success. However, many business owners have some misconceptions about brand identities that can damage their businesses, and I’ve discussed those below:

My cousin can design my brand identity (logo, website, and marketing materials)
There are some very significant areas of your business that should be left to the professionals.

First of all, while your cousin may have been “great in art class,” this doesn’t mean that they have the knowledge and expertise required to create great graphic designs. Designing a logo, business card, or website is much different than painting a picture or making a collage. You must make a brand logo scalable, meaningful, and symbolic. See my article on the “9 Keys to an Effective Logo” for more information on what factors to consider when creating a great logo.

Second, by having a professional designer on your business marketing team, your projects will be a top priority. I have many potential clients who start their designs with a friend or relative, who are then “put on the back burner”, and then have their project drag on for months. After much frustration, they come to me and are amazed at how quickly things are completed. As a professional, I make your projects the most important items on my to-do list.

Finally, would you trust a friend to do something really important requiring unique skills for your business? Make an important client presentation for you, or give a speech? You probably would not, unless they’re a sales professional or a professional speaker. Would you trust a friend who’s “good with math” to do your corporate taxes? If you wouldn’t trust an amateur with an important business function, then why would you trust an amateur with your brand identity - the key to your marketing success?

Designing a custom brand identity is too expensive
It’s true that having your marketing materials designed is an expensive proposition. But, it may be even more expensive not having a high-quality, custom brand identity professionally designed - in terms of lost business, lack of respect from your clients, not being taken seriously in business. The list continues.

A strong brand identity quickly pays for itself. For most businesses, if just a few - two or three - new clients call you over the course of your business because of the equity that your brand identity develops, this new business would pay for your logo and brand identity design package. New customers will contact you because they remember your logo, hold on to your business card, or are impressed by your brochure. It’s likely that many more clients than the required few will contact you, and your business will grow from the (relatively) small initial investment in the brand identity.

Consider also that a brand identity is a sustainable expense. Once you’ve had a timeless logo and set of marketing materials designed, you can use them for years to come. And, once you have a strong logo, then creating consistent, targeted marketing pieces and programs is an easy addition to your existing system.

I don’t need a brand identity
If you are a professional in business, you need a brand identity. You wouldn’t imagine being in business without other important business essentials - your own computer, perhaps, or a business name or bank account. A brand identity is another of these basic business essentials - it’s the central piece to the marketing and promoting of your business.

My professional experience has taught me that there is nothing that looks less professional than not having a professional brand identity. If you don’t establish a clean, high-quality, and consistent look and feel to your materials, you’ll have a much more difficult time gaining the trust of a potential client - and signing them on to use your services. All of the Fortune 500 companies have a logo, and for a good reason - it makes them look more professional. If you want to be perceived as offering a high-caliber service, you have to look polished and “put together.”

Printers have certainly come a long way since the inception of the character and and dot matrix printers.

These ancient products (ancient in technical terms being as few as 10-15 years) were what are known as impact printers, simply because they needed to make a physical connection with the paper in order to achieve the ink-on-paper result.

Dot matrix printers came equipped with a group of pins that touched a ribbon which then connected with paper to produce the finished product. Character printers, which worked on the same principle as electric typewriters, used a bar or ball whose surface was embossed with all the characters you now see on any keyboard. These characters made contact with the ribbon, which in turn made contact with the paper.

Today we use non-impact printers - those that do not make physical contact with the paper to create the papered reproduction. The most prevalent for home or small office use is the inkjet printer - an economical choice for all but the most serious graphic arts requirements.

An inkjet printer produces the images and type it delivers from computer to paper by means of miniscule drops of ink. So miniscule, in fact, that a human hair would seem big by comparison. Standard ink drops of an inkjet printer have a diameter range of 50-60 microns. Arranged very precisely, these ink drops come in various resolutions (the higher the resolution, the clearer and more life like the output.) while 800×600 dpi (dots per inch) is a typical SOHO (small office home office) resolution producing quite adequate print quality, an inkjet printer can offer resolutions as high as 1440×720 dpi. Adding color to the mix can produce images nearly as high in quality as a laser printer product.

There are five basic parts to an inkjet printer: the print head assembly, the paper feed assembly, circuitry control, power supply, and printer ports.

The print head assembly is the heart of the printer workings. It’s what brings the ink to paper by means of a row of nozzles. The print head may be part of the inner workings of a printer cartridge, or they may be separate parts. Cartridges are responsible for delivering color and shading. Most inkjet printers made nowadays offer color printing. Some may require as many as three distinct cartridges, but generally at least two - one black, one color. The motor is part of the print head assembly as well. It’s the part that enables the ink and cartridges to move across the paper and produce the hard copy. It also keeps the cartridge stable when not in use.

The paper feed assembly includes the paper tray, which holds the paper ready for a printing request, and the rollers, which deliver the paper to the ink when a printing job is requested.

The power supply is simple - it’s what gets the electricity to your printer so that it can do its job. Printer circuitry controls take the message from your keyboard and mouse and deliver it to the printer so that the requested hard copy can be produced. Printer ports, also referred to as interface ports, much like a telephone jack, enable the peripheral (the printer) to talk to the computer. While in older models parallel ports were the norm, the newest printer models connect via USB ports, which require a special USB cord.

1st Point - When victims attack!

Let me see if I understand this. The accuser in Kobe Bryant’s alleged rape assault, who was allegedly so traumatized by the event that she could have sex again within 48 hours, also feels that a cap of 2.5 million dollars is not sufficient enough to ease her pain and suffering. So, instead of continuing a criminal trial, that would see both her attacker behind bars and her bank account secured for years, her, and her defense team, decide to withdraw the criminal case and pursue a civil case in a state that historically favors the plaintiff. The logic is obvious. If OJ can be found NOT guilty, but still have to pay 30 million dollars to the families of the victims 7 years ago, then the accuser stands to make quite a bit from Kobe’s recent 136.4 million dollar basketball contract (not to mention endorsement deals, and other business ventures). The fact of guilt or innocence is not even relevant in the American Civil court system. Folks, it is most everyone’s dream to make it big. It is Kobe’s fault he committed adultery? Yes. But what normal man could constantly resist the enormous temptations that would be in his life almost every day? She wants to sue Kobe, but not give him his right to prove his innocence! I say that Kobe should set a precedent, and sue her right back. I cannot stand Kobe as a ballplayer. I loved the history of the Lakers, and what they have done, but I believe he has a right to live with his wealth. Civil cases should be used only for things like slumlords, or Tobacco companies. It should not be used as an alternative for a criminal case. Both her and her defense team are nothing more than legal con artists, trying to extort money from a black basketball player, still trying to feed off the stigma of a black man having sex with a white girl. Kobe needs to let her know that him having money does not make him a target. Moreover, anyone that does try to take advantage of him for his money will find himself or herself bankrupt.

2nd Point - NHL Locked Out on Advertising

The recent announcement for an 8 Billion dollar contract 6-year extension should be a wakeup call to the NHLPA about just how much money is out there to be had. The players are all businessmen, and as such, cannot fault an owner for trying to make money from his organization. The NHL television deal has NBC paying the NHL NOTHING. They will simply split the profit after NBC takes out the cost of production. With no guaranteed revenue, and only gate and merchandise profits to claim, how can the players insist on maintaining the same salary levels they enjoy today? At this point, it doesn’t matter that the owners caused the ship to start sinking, standing at either end of the boat will not save this league. The players need to get back from Europe, force their Union to return to the table, and negotiate a settlement. As stated in previous posts, the players will lose money. Why make it worse?

3-Pointer : Pittsburg is the Real Steel!

The win over New England surprised some, but critics figured the Patriots were due for a loss. Then they beat the Eagles with their starting running back on cheerleader duty. That was impressive. And so is Ben, the Real Deal, Roethlisberger! The schedule will only become easier for the Steelers after those huge games, which will do nothing but help Ben learn more about his team, and about himself. They may not win the Super Bowl this year, but they are sure to make it there!
